Ruffuge Homeless Hound Haven
Ruffuge Homeless Hound Haven is an animal rights organization that renovates the expansive and unique spaces of abandoned malls across the country to give homeless shelter dogs exactly what they need to live comfortably until they find their forever home. Foreclosed shopping malls become less of an eyesore, and volunteers and potential adopters can socialize with dogs in a large indoor facility anytime of year.

Have A Ball In The Mall
The color palette of Ruffuge evokes an earthy, cozy feel while still radiating a vibrant energy - much like the dogs at their locations. The illustrations and patterns are reminiscent of late 1980’s ad 90’s shopping mall designs with a mix of bold photography, to give a sense of nostalgia to these spruced-up facilities.
Inside The Dog House
All Ruffuge locations strive to make not only their dogs feel comfortable, but volunteers and potential adopters as well. The interiors of the renovated malls are vibrant with murals, have colorful signage across the various floors and are lush with trees and other plants for our furry friends to sniff. Ruffuge also takes advantage of advertising at normal shopping malls as well, such as the “dropping ball” escalator signage that appears as though a dog is chasing a ball down the steps.
Getting Hounds Out of the Pound
While Ruffuge can comfortably house more dogs than any standard shelter, the goal is still for all of their “Ruffugees” to be adopted. Through means of social media and print advertising Ruffuge helps to spread the word that any dog is welcome in their facility, and that there are dogs already there waiting to be your new best friend. The following ad appears in Best Friends Magazine, a publication for pet lovers.
Swag to Make Any Tail Wag
Whether you’re a staff member or a kindly volunteer at Ruffuge you can be sure you’ll look your best in these stylish nametags. As for the dogs, whenever a “Ruffugee” gets adopted, they leave with a commemorative collar so that you can show off where you found your best friend.
