American automotive manufacturers like General Motors and Ford are making steps to transition a number of their performance vehicles to all-electric, namely the latest Mustang. This can be very divisive among long-time fans. Rebranding the Plymouth Barracuda as an all-electric economy sports car, now known as the Chrysler Electrocuda, will allow Chrysler/Dodge to experiment in this fıeld without the risk of interfering with their internal combustion performance cars, and offer an affordable performance car to their slim lineup. The Plymouth Barracuda was a beloved economy muscle car that was discontinued in 1974, with Plymouth subsequently being discontinued in 2001. This reinvigorates the Barracuda for a new generation of muscle car lovers.
Old Meets New
Brandmark: The revamped Electrocuda logo borrows elements from the iconic Barracuda logo of the 1970’s, with a modern electric flair. The accompanying type evokes a retro-modern feel similar to Mopars of the past.
Front End: This behemoth takes great influence from the body style of the latest Dodge Challengers, with LED “gill” headlights reminiscent of the HEMI Cuda. While this electric car doesn’t need air intakes to perform, they remain as a nod to the stylish hood scoops of the 1960’s & 70’s.
Rear End & Sides: The rear end mimics the “gills” of the front with the wraparound brake light strip, and the side profile features a stylized charging port where the conventional fuel tank access would be placed.
Colors & Performance Specs
The Electrocuda comes in a selection of colors that are true callbacks to the vibrant energy of the 70’s. Old hues like Plum Crazy and Rallye Green make a grand comeback while new shades like Blackout and Pearl White make their debut.
